Every week, my friend Jeff Gault takes the time to find out what’s going on in the Erie area for those of us who enjoy live entertainment…he does such a great job at it that I asked him if I could share it with you. For those of us who are too lazy to do our own research, it’s like having the Reader’s Digest version of “Showcase.”
***************
And summer continues… We had a good meal and heard some great music down at The Riverside Inn last Thursday. The Hotel and grounds are just a nice place to hang out and soak in the atmosphere. Abbey Road was also a good show for 8 Great Tuesdays this week, they pack in a big crowd. You just have to love living in Erie with all there is to do and enjoy.
THURSDAY— It is another Downtown Block Party, this week is being sponsored by Brewerie, Fainstein Photography and the other businesses of Union Station. You can catch Crosstown Rhythm and Blues at 6:00 and The Man’s Room Band at 8:00. This should also be an excellent night to enjoy the new Griswold Park. Also tonight in the great outdoors over at The Arboretum you will find Mambo playing at 7:00. But if you prefer indoors then LaBella is your kind of place with 2 Girls Alone providing their kind of music from 6-9:30. Also if you have not been to the Colony Pub in awhile you will be glad to know that they have gone non-smoking and still have Jazz on Thursdays with the Colony Club House Band.
FRIDAY— If your thinking road trip here are two suggestions for tonight 1) A new venue for me is the Edinboro Lake Resort (on the right just as you approach Lake Edinboro on Rt. 99). Here you will be entertained, on the deck overlooking the lake, by Lori Burke tonight from 7-10. You should also be sipping margaritas. 2) In the other direction you could catch The BluesBeaters at the Regency Pub at the Peek. Meanwhile back in town start early at Romolo Chocolates’ Friday Music Series at 3:00 with Frank Singer. Next stop at 6:00 on Under the Clock’s Patio Bar with sounds by Colonel Mustard or Jackson Station at Coconut Joe’s. Or Marty O’Conner on the deck at Alto Cucina. Finish up the evening on the Bay with Endless Summer at Rum Runners or The Earthquakers at The Sloppy Duck. Should be a fun night whichever path you decide to take.
SATURDAY— Today’s road trip suggestions are South- to Sprague Farms and Brew Works with The Elders playing at 6:00 Or northeast to Penn Shore Winery for Music in the Vineyard with Dave Callaghan and the Uptime Jazz Quartet (5-9). Plenty to do downtown also, Open Island at Nelson’s and String Theory at Brewerie. Then on the bayfront catch The Duke Sherman Band at Sloppy Duck Or head to the West Village where The Sandbar is featuring Kristen and The Cosmonauts and Alto Cucina again is featuring Marty O’Conner.
SUNDAY— A Sunday drive might include at stop in Bemus Point where Satisfaction will be giving you Rolling Stones on the Floating Stage. Or south to Venango Boro at Dave’s Corner Tavern for Cheap ‘n Easy.
MONDAY— REST!!
TUESDAY— A little country at 8 Great. Try Katie Armiger and Kellie Lynn under the tent at the Burger King Amphitheater. But watch out for neighboring Wesleyville with a Summer Concert on Main Street featuring the BluesBeaters at 5:00.
WEDNESDAY— Midday Art Break at The Erie Art Museum with Hal Walker.
Enjoy!
