Because I “cover” my bowling league for my website – The Pepsi Classic at Westway Lanes – I always have my camera and video recorder with me.
Last night, we had not one but TWO 300 games in our league. Nobody told me about the first one as it was happening, but the second one of the night took place on the lanes right next to me.
While 300 games are much more common today than they were 30 years ago, you can rest assured that when a bowler has the first 6 or 7 strikes in a game that the nerves still get going as he or she gets closer to the 10th frame.
Let’s pick up the action in the 10th frame, with Ron Bemis, Sr. having already rolled nine strikes in a row…pretty cool to actually catch this on video!
Other than Bob Learn Jr.’s display on the Professional Bowler’s Tour in Erie on national television, this might just be one of the – if not the only – 300 games ever caught on video in Erie.
